About Asako Hoichi

Hi! My name is Asako Hoichi. I am licensed in Illinois with 26 years of professional work experience. I am a bilingual therapist in English and Japanese and can conduct sessions in both languages. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, depression, and relationship issues including interracial relationship issues, adjustment issues, work-life balance issues, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. My treatment approaches are based on Self-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT) with Mindfulness skills to be incorporated. I offer you homework from time to time to help gaining more skills to improve your life. The more you use your skills, the skills become part of you. You will feel empowered and gain control back in your life with new skills under your belt! I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I also think that my job is like GPS in your car. You are in the driver's seat while I navigate you as GPS to get to the destination where you want to go. You are the one holding the key to your car. I can help you maneuver around when you feel stuck, lost, or need new directions. Talking about your life to a stranger for the first time takes A LOT! You may not trust me right away. You may have some anxiety over if therapy works. It is very normal to feel some anxiety before reaching out to a therapist or first time talking to a therapist. But one thing I can tell you is that thinking about wanting to get help is a big step! You are already improving yourself! Reaching out to a therapist is another improvement you are making for yourself! I am very proud of you for getting started! I look forward to meeting you!
