I have been working in the field of Mental Health & Addictions for close to 20 years. I am a Certified Telemedicine Addiction Counselling Professional, Problem Gambling Counsellor, Addiction Counsellor, Intimacy Anorexia Therapist, Partners Recovery Therapist, Sexual Recovery Therapist, and Clinical Supervisor. As you can see from the credentials listed below, I am very much committed to personal and professional growth. I have enjoyed a number of successes throughout my career including media spots, program development, training, supervision, conference speaking, journal publication, and being recognized as a leader in the field of addictions to name a few. None of the above experiences; however, compares to the honour of supporting clients in the pursuit of recovery and a lifestyle of wellness. I have been witness to countless #StigmaSlayers overcoming longstanding strongholds and finding peace and serenity in their lives. I work within a client-centered approach which means that I meet people where they are in their life. With my background/training, I am well versed in Trauma Incident Reduction, Cybercounselling, SMART Recovery, Abstinence-based (12 Steps), Harm Reduction, and Holistic/Cultural approaches to recovery including Acudetox. As a compliment to the above, I have completed additional certificate training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Narrative Therapy. In describing my work to others, I use terms such as Coach, Cheerleader, and Recovery Tour Guide. Although, I have been referred to by a few different monikers including @StigmaSlayer, #HopeDealer, and Skabawis – a helper to the people. It has been an incredible journey thus far.
