About Lori Simms
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and yoga teacher in Tennessee. I specialize in working with women experiencing anxiety and I use a combination of talk therapy and mind-body strategies such as yoga and meditation to treat anxiety.
My therapeutic approach draws on a newer cognitive behavioral therapy, called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is a mindfulness-based behavioral therapy with empirical support for a range of conditions. We will use mindfulness, self-compassion, and acceptance to help you live your best life.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of North Texas and have a master's degree in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman's University. My pre-doctoral training was completed at Vanderbilt University and the Nashville and Murfreesboro VA hospitals. I completed my postdoctoral residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Clinical Psychology.
I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and a Level I iRest® Teacher, which is a form of yoga nidra or meditation.
