About Melissa Dean-Appasu
I have 22 years of experience caring for patients from birth to 100 years of age. I received my undergraduate degree from Indiana University Purdue University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Informatics with a cognate in Data Analysis and Chemi-Informatics. Later, I received my second Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana State University. I advanced my education by earning a Master of Science in Advanced Nursing Practice from Indiana State University. Over the past ten years, I have worked in multiple practice settings, including primary care, inpatient and outpatient mental health, and urgent care. I am Board Certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
My experience spans a broad range of areas, from medical research and data analysis to cardiovascular health and now primary care. I have worked on the continent of Africa in countries like Ghana, West Africa, Tanzania, East Africa, and soon Zambia, providing skilled training in first aid and CPR. Before co-founding Compassion Virtual Health Care with my husband, Mr. Bryte Appasu, I provided primary care in the family practice setting and psychiatric care to inpatients suffering from mental illness.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the library, international travel, and home gardening.
