About Milind Joshi

I am a dedicated psychiatrist serving children, adolescents, and adults in Champaign, Illinois, both in-person and virtually, starting from age 3. Licensed in Illinois and Ohio, I offer evidence-based treatment and comprehensive diagnostic evaluations. My mantra is "To help my patients not just survive, but thrive!" For young children, our goal is to avoid the use of psychotropic medications unless absolutely necessary. Both the child and the parent are interviewed for a total of 90 minutes. If needed, we collaborate with the child’s therapist, school counselors, social workers, teachers, and advocate for the child within the school system. Our focus is on enhancing the child’s overall physical, emotional, and neurological well-being without compromising these areas due to potential side effects of psychotropic medications, if prescribed. For many psychiatric disorder, Early intervention often leads to best outcomes and at times even leads to full remission. For college students, I provide personalized care to enhance emotional and cognitive functioning. Having immigrated to the U.S. during high school and attended UCLA for my undergraduate studies, I understand the pressure and stress of being in highly competitive environments like UIUC. I also offer specialized treatment for students from diverse cultural backgrounds who are adjusting to the U.S. college system. If the student wishes, I collaborate with and educate parents to provide additional support. For adult patients, I pay special attention to drug-drug interactions and the interplay between medical and psychiatric conditions. My aim is to improve productivity while minimizing the cognitive and metabolic side effects of psychotropic medications. I believe in incorporating holistic and integrative medicine into psychiatry when appropriate. Recognizing the importance of accessibility during difficult times, I often leave a few urgent care slots available for after-hours and weekend appointments
