III. What You Should Know About Orlando Therapy

How are Orlando therapists licensed?

The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling requires licensure applicants to earn a master’s degree or higher in a mental health counseling program that consists of at least 60 semester hours. They must complete two years of supervised experience with at least 1,500 hours spent face-to-face with clients. Applicants must pass the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination developed by the National Board for Certified Counselors.

How much does therapy cost in Orlando?

The therapists listed charge per session with individual sessions costing $100 to $250, but the average per-session cost is $150. Typically, sessions last about 50 to 60 minutes, but longer sessions are available at higher fees. Remote services are often priced lower than in-person sessions. Some therapists offer prepaid therapy packages at discounted rates. About half of the listed therapists offer a sliding fee scale, but only a few of them work with private insurance carriers.
