III. What You Should Know About Arlington Therapy

How are Arlington therapists licensed?

To be licensed as an LPC in Texas, therapists must have a master’s or doctoral degree in a counseling-related field from an accredited university. They must complete at least 3,000 hours of supervised postgraduate experience for a minimum of 18 months, which includes at least 1,500 hours of direct client contact. Therapists must get a passing score on the Texas Jurisprudence Exam and the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCELC).

How much does therapy cost in Arlington?

For individual counseling, expect to pay between $100-$150 per session, with some therapists charging up to $200 and some as low as $60. The initial assessment usually costs about $20 more, although a few therapists charge less for the first meeting. Couples counseling is slightly more expensive than individual therapy, as are most specialty services, including life coaching and psychological assessment testing. Counselors may accept health insurance, including Medicare. Some have a sliding scale option, which allows you to pay what you can afford.
